New Kyoto Protocol?

There may yet be hope for out planet. In a meeting yesterday, nations from across the world have come to an agreement to come to an agreement by 2015 that will come into force by 2020.
Although there is quite a long time for the new agreement to come into effect, it may help to reduce carbon emissions.

The whole deal seems to be a bit vague. Although there are binding contract-like statements, their real purpose can be interpreted in a bunch of different ways.

The good part is it includes all nations of the UN. Bigger nations have said they will help smaller nations keep on track with the deal. Some smaller countries say they should get a little time to catch up with the bigger countries before punishments are dealt however.

Some may argue that 2015 is too late. The deal should be starting next year. Although 3 years is a bit long, countries do have to prepare for what should be a big change in how they produce goods. It will be interesting to see in the coming years how things will change.
